Gorgeous recording by Rene LaFlamme of Fidelio in Montreal. Cover art by Louis Dejardins of Kronos.

Louis took the picture from top of the World Trade Center. Rene recorded it with the Nagra IV-S two months after 9/11.

Ha! All of my listening buddies talk about how corny the old country music is, but I feel differently.

These are words that come straight from the heart without any pretension. Multiple syllables on a one syllable word, not singing about hard times, but living hard times.

For instance, Tammy Wynette did not tell a story in her song. She WAS the story.

I regret not attending the Grand Ole Opry back in the day, but am grateful I have the records.

I know country music is simple but I love to listen to all genre. I think we have many good songs in country music. Maybe they are not complicated by theory like Classical or Jazz music but we can find passion on them.

The new pressing sounds phenomenal!! The best part is that "Crocodile Rock" really rocks. Gone are the thin guitars and tinny sounding organs. They're now presented much more rich and full. The bass also got a big boost which really helps to propel the song forward. Definitely a lot less "Can't Buy Me Love" and much more "Whole Lotta Love".
